Finally made it to San Francisco …

My wife grew up in San Francisco and, as it happened, I’ve never been there. This trip was long due as my wife has been after me to make a trip to SF. She saw a perfect opportunity when we were invited for a wedding.  Let me quickly add that the wedding was awesome and we had a good time. I didn’t bring my camera to the wedding as I wanted to enjoy the wedding and not take any pictures. I did take a lot of pictures at SF and few of them are posted below.

To be honest I was really excited to visit SF. I had been looking forward to it as I had heard so much about CA in general, how laid back people were, how laid back the culture was, how cool the weather was (besides in SF:) ). Here’s my run down of SF and the surrounding areas.

When you get there it doesn’t seem different from any other big city. Big highways, lots of traffic and buildings which look the same.  It’s when you get to the city that you see the difference. The lovely row houses on little hills, the tram, and people dressed in very laid back clothes. The downtown gave a feeling of NYC besides the fact that people weren’t running around. One thing I noticed was people riding their bikes and not one or two, a lot of people downtown. My favorite place was Sausalito.  It’s right across from the Golden Gate bridge and it reminded of the hill stations we visited when I was a kid, with fog coming down. We drove to Sonoma where the wedding was and we didn’t want to miss a chance to get a taste of CA wine (as Sonoma is next to Napa).  I gave up my favorite alcohol for wine and, trust me, I was happy I made that decision.  The wine went down smoothly.  Another one of my favorite places was Chinatown, it doesn’t look anything like the NYC Chinatown it’s got its own vibe and, yes, we didn’t miss a chance to get Dim Sum while we were there.

To summarize, it was a great trip, definitely not our last.  San Diego is next on the list.

The first picture is of the house where Kyra grew up.  It’s the center one behind the tree.  Don’t ask why I didn’t position myself better:).

Enjoy
