I don’t know what century Adorama folks are living in. I have been ordering all my gear from B&H or Amazon. Recently I placed an order with Adorama. As in past I have to always go to UPS center to pick up my package as I am not at home to receive the package and things have been just fine. This time around when I went to pick up my package from Adorama, UPS refused to give me the package as they said Adorama has put a restriction on it. What that means is UPS has to do 3 failed attempts before I can pickup the package. I have never heard of this before and feel this is a ridiculous restriction. When other companies like B&H and Amazon have no issue why does Adorama have this special restriction.
Wake up people you are not selling Diamonds here, it’s just camera equipment and if people are scamming you then they are scamming your competition as well. It’s all part of the game. Below is Adorama’s shipping rule.
Shipping Rules:
A signature is required for all UPS shipments upon receipt, Packages can not be rerouted or picked up from UPS someone must be at the address to receive the package and sign for it.
Never buying anything from Adorama again.

Gaurav - Helen- it is not a theory I know that for a fact. I have bought expensive stuff from B&H and picked it up myself after 1st attempt. I never had to wait for 3 attempts. I was hoping to get my hands on my new lens before the weekend. The third attempt will be on Monday and hopefully I will be able to pick up my package after that. If you have a survey then add this from my side…. please change your policy..I searched around on the net and found soo many other people with the same experience.. you are definitely loosing customers on this…and I am one of them.
Helen - I thought I had better test out your theory, and I emailed B&H the following question:
If I order & choose UPS as my shipping option, can I pick my order up from the depot, as my work means I’m not home during the day.
The response I received was:
Our Answer Is: No, you can have it shipped to your work.
So I sent a further email:
I don’t understand why I can’t collect it!!
I travel a lot with work; sometimes I’m away overnight – for days on end my ‘office’ is my car!! Then I can come home to find that UPS has delivered a parcel – and left it outside my front door…in the rain…..at the mercy of any passing crook.
I assume you make this rule to prevent fraud or theft, but surely if I turn up with ID my order can be handed over safely????
The response from B&H was:
Our Answer Is: We apologize, but our experience has shown that we can not do it.
Actually, you CAN pick up a package ordered from Adorama at the UPS depot – but UPS has introduced a $10 charge to enable you to do this.
