If you’re like us, you do a lot of your shopping online. Don’t get me wrong, I do love to spend some quality time in the stores, especially when my favorite Bloomingdales is involved. But sometimes, actually 90% of the time, it’s just so much more convenient to open up the laptop, press a few keys, and voila, you’re done. It’s convenient, pleasant, doesn’t involve long lines, pushy people, shopping cart jams, sticky counters, magazine (or Skittles) temptations…you get my drift.
Anyway, there’s a new site that was just beta-launched on Monday called Alice, which essentially helps you determine what household items you typically buy, how often, how much, etc. Then you can actually buy the items through Alice. The concept is similar to Mint in that you are also able to keep track of how much you are spending on, say, Downey, Glad Wrap, or Crest. That way, you can monitor your budget and see where your money is actually going. The site also allows you to shift things around if you want to order them every 2, 3, 4 or even 8 weeks. You can set up reminders or automatic shipments of certain things that are regular purchases too. AND, there are even coupons available, so you don’t have to go around clip, clip, clipping. Their prices tend to be lower than the average prices for the exact same products at CVS, Walgreens, Costco, and Target. The site in general is very interactive and easy on the eyes, which makes it all the more fun to browse through.
Oh, and did I mention that shipping is free, no matter how much you order? C’est super-chouette! And, no, Alice isn’t some overly ambitious, crazy organized woman who’s got an outrageous amount of time on her hands and lots of household products just randomly collecting dust in the garage. It’s actually a full fledged company with several people working behind the scenes to make your online household shopping experience as pain-free as possible.
