When I lived in Belize for almost a year, everyone kept telling me to start a travel blog. Not only were there tons of stories to tell, but it was a great way to keep in touch with my family and friends. At the time, the word “blog” wasn’t as common as, well, the word “apple”, or “iPod” for that matter, but I was totally down with the idea. I mean, I love rambling.
Anyway, I’ve done a lot of research on the best travel blogs out there. There are tons of people’s personal blogs. And, I do indulge in those from time to time, fully understanding the trials and tribulations of having to come up with something creative and witty on an almost daily basis. Then there are those associated with certain publications, like Frommers and Lonely Planet. Good reads as well. There’s also the not-so-beautiful (and clearly lacking a creative title…though, should we talk?), yet informative and often entertaining travelblog.org site. My favorite, though, of all time is National Geographic’s “Intelligent Traveler Blog”. It’s not your typical, “here’s what to see and do when you’re here” reading, though they have thrown some of that in there if that’s what you’re looking for. I particularly like their “Do It” and “Voluntousim” sections, very cool. Go volunteer!
If you’re as curious about the unknown, as obsessed with foods from foreign lands, and as adventurous as the Khanna Photography crew is, I would highly, highly, HIGHLY suggest you check it out here. Oh, and subscribe to their Traveler and Adventure magazines. If only I were being paid for the plug! And, if only…nah, I won’t even get into that. Wishful thinking. ![]()
