Online Candy Store still got long ways to go …

candy

As the name suggests it is an online candy store. So what’s so great about it. For starters the company paid $3 million to get the domain name(reported by Techcrunch). For me that news was just enough to appreciate a website. Any company which paid that some of money to just obtain a domain name is dead serious about their business. If you look at the screenshot at the top, you would agree with me that this is indeed a cool website. How cool it is to be able to search for a candy by it Type, Color, Flavor, and Brand. After playing around a little it looked like everything has to be bought in bulk. I picked up an Altoids tin and the minimum I had to order was 12. That’s way too many Altoids. But again if you buy your candy at Costco then this is totally up your alley;).

I compared a pack of 12 Altoids Wintergreen tin’s on Candy.com and Amazon.com. Candy.com is selling it for $30.49 and Amazon.com is selling the same for $19.50. This doesn’t look promising. How can a candy store be selling the candy for more green? I don’t understand. Another problem I have is their website. To me it looks little outdated. If they spent $3 million to just buy the domain name they could definitely afford a laid off  web designer for a little more.
