This past weekend was Halloween. And, it was an exciting and very unique one for us…even though no butterfingers or tootsie pops were involved. Seriously, why does growing up entail no candy whatsoever??? Oh, the angst. Anyway, we drove up to Gettysburg, PA, known for spooks, ghosts, and, of course, that whole “four score” schpiel by a man named Abe, to cover Falgunee and Milan’s 1-year anniversary party. They had contacted us last year about shooting their wedding, but something came up and they were not able to do a full-fledged wedding on the East Coast. Cut to one year later…the anniversary! 400 family members and friends from all over. A masquerade ball / New Orleans-ish theme with caricature artists, palm readers, magicians, and tarot card readers. It was ridiculously fun to cover. Not to mention, their respective families were so sweet and more than willing to indulge in some not so traditional poses with masks and such. We also set up a self-portrait photo booth with wigs, glasses, masks, boas, and hats for people to wear. We had a wonderful time and wish Falgunee, Milan, and their families all the best. Happy anniversary and happy belated boo day! Oh, and just an FYI for those of you driving from northern Virginia to Gettysburg in the fall (especially when the foliage has reached its peak – that may just be the first time I’ve used the word “foliage”, it sounds so, well, clinical), the drive is unreal. Absolutely spectacular.
Instead of the more conventional floral arrangements, they opted for these stunning, multi-colored masquerade masks and this sort of delicate, tangled straw in a vase. Very creative. LOVED.
