First Take “Gingerbread Cookies”

I have definitely not tried to make Gingerbread cookies before and Kyra has probably tried it, maybe a few times when she was a kid. So basically we both have no idea what goes into making some. Keeping the Christmas spirit going we decided to make some from scratch, yeah that’s right no store bought mixes or dough, all from scratch. Kyra looked up a recipe and bought all the ingredients except one crucial tool. We were not able to find a cookie cutter at the grocery store, not at “Harris Teeter” or “Giant”, then someone at Giant suggested Kyra to try “Target” and there they were.  A big shout out to Target and booo to Harris Teeter and Giant. All in all my contribution to a this behemoth task was to simply decorate them with icing, which was fun and frustrating as it is tough. I had few which were completely red as if someone shot them.

It was a great experience and kudos to moms & dads who try to accomplish this with their kids. We had a mess on our hands by the end of it.Ginger Bread 1I was trying to just use one hand and none of the lines, dots etc were proper and on the other hand Kyra was using two hands and man there was a night and day difference in our decorations. You could easily tell which were mine and which were hers.

Ginger Bread 2So the Christmas tree with weird red lines was decorated by “yours truly” as well as the guy who lost an arm during the process.

julia rao holm - Even this pics of your cookies look gorgeous! How did you get such great lighting in your kitchen? By accident or by artistry? Beautiful! If you ever give lessons in photography, let me know and sign me up.
