Heading into a busy weekend …. UPDATE!

This past weekend (is it almost the next one?) was jam-packed.  From races to shoots to food, per usual, it was another crazy one.  And, things don’t seem to be slowing down.  We started out our Saturday morning with the Girls on the Run 5k Reindeer Romp in Reston.  Just to refresh your memory, GOTR is a nonprofit organization whose primary mission is to: “educate and prepare girls for a lifetime of self-respect and healthy living”.  And, one of the main goals they set for the girls is the completion of a 3.1 mile race following 2 months of training.  We were buddy runners and were paired with a young girl who was in the 5th grade.  She was SUPER sweet and very motivated to finish.  She would set goals for herself throughout, she basically knew it was important to pace herself.  I mean, when I was 11 years old, running even a mile seemed like the impossible.  It wasn’t the sunniest of days, in fact, we were faced with freezing rain…and wind….then full-on massive snowflakes halfway through the run.  But it was beautiful and made the experience all the more exciting for the 6,000 runners!  Not to mention, we all got to dance in a parking lot.  Always appreciate the opportunity to spontaneously dance.  We also found our way to the White House Christmas tree Saturday night, which, as usual, is funkily covered in a net of lights.  But pretty nonetheless.

Another major weekend event was the completion of our Christmas decorations.  We now have a tree up and lights on the balcony outside.  All that combined with the 5 inches of snow, which has since melted, of course.  It’s feeling mighty festive chez Les Khannas!   We’re doing the Jingle All the Way 10k race this coming Sunday too, just to get into the spirit!  And will probably whip up a batch of latkas in celebration of Chanukah.  I mean, you gotta do it all!   Anyway, our Sunday concluded with a baby portrait session (see post below) and a little no-pressure-on-the-’Skins football.  Can’t believe they almost beat the Saints.  Actually, I can.  These lame “almost wins” are becoming way too common, just ludicrous, useless indeed.  Why oh why can’t our home team be decent?
