1. Why should I hire Khanna Photography?

Because we’re fabulous! In all seriousness (and yes, we were totally kidding), we like to think of ourselves as flexible, fun, willing to push the envelope, and professional. We both bring different strengths and a slightly different perspective to each of our shoots, which makes for a much more comprehensive set of photos in the end. Not to mention, we’re all about capturing you in your most natural element. We love seeking out creative ideas and solutions in every setting and location.

2. What is included in the price?

Well, besides good company and one-of-a-kind charm, we provide unlimited, re-touched photos. We also give you full rights to the photos, which means you can send them to family and friends, print them, what have you. There are several other options, such as professional prints, that we offer as well. We make use of highly professional companies to assist us with the post-production and design aspects of our work.

3. How long is a standard portrait session?

We typically set aside one to two hours for each session, depending on the needs, wants, and availability of our clients. This allows us to get ample shots and to cover several different locations (and outfit changes), if need be. And, it allows us to shoot the surrounding details, which we feel are just as important.

4. What is your style?

We like to think of our style as contemporary editorial. We love to capture the raw, genuine, and goofy moments from every angle possible. So, while one of us is right in front of you, the other will likely be on the ground with the lens pointed up. Generally speaking, and to be very frank, we’re not extremely traditional and most of the people with whom we work seem to prefer the more unconventional, slightly edgy candids to the posed portraits.

5. What should I wear to the portrait session?

Ah, the big question, what to wear. Honestly, it’s completely up to you what you wear. For those sessions that entail more than one person (i.e., family or engagement), if you want to mis-match, that’s totally cool…go for it! Some people like to change into several different outfits – going for both casual and dressy – while others are fine with jeans and a tank. Think comfortable, natural, and contrast. And, vibrant colors that pop are always great as well.

6. What will the portrait session be like?

Silly, fairly structured, and all kinds of fun. As far as location goes, we’ve done everything from the monuments in DC, to the alleys of Georgetown, to the parks, fire stations, highways, and bells of Northern Virginia. From a geeky, technical perspective, we prefer areas that not only say something about you, but that have ambiance, texture, and slight intrigue. Trees are great, but so is graffiti! And, of course, if you’d rather do it at home, that’s absolutely fine; that usually means more props to use too.  =)

7. What cameras do you use?

We use Nikon Pro Cameras and bring a wide variety of lenses (primarily fixed) to every shoot.
